It was originally recorded just for us — a personal keepsake, nothing more. There's something different about hearing your own family's story told out loud, across generations, in the same room. Our mother's journey from Peru to the US carries a version of permission none of us had to learn from a book — she lived it, and in a lot of ways, that's where ours started.

Why We Almost Kept This One Private

We debated releasing this episode. It's more personal than most of what we share here, and personal isn't always the same as ready to be public. We're glad we changed our minds, because the parts of our story that felt too small or too specific to matter turned out to be the parts that said the most about where "permission" actually comes from in a family.
